Welcoming a New Member to the Precious Nuptials & Destinations Family!

At Precious Nuptials & Destinations, we have been very fortunate to have a fabulous family of workers that we can totally depend on to make your wedding day undeniably spectacular.  We work hard to make sure your wedding day is everything you thought it would be… and more!  On this note, we are super excited to introduce to you our newest family member : Carleigh Hammond.

1. What do you love most about weddings?
My absolute favorite thing about weddings is how unique they are to each couple. I love being able to walk around a wedding and notice little pieces of the wedding couple in everything from the cake to the decor to the song selection.

2. What inspires you?
It may sound odd, but nothing inspires me quite like a problem. Most of my creativity comes in the form of problem-solving, so a challenge really gets my brain going. Whether it’s something as simple as creating a dinner from what’s left in the fridge at the end of the week, or something more intense like a major wedding day mishap, I’m always inspired by and up for the challenge!

3. What is your background? (eg. education, training, etc)

I recently graduated with a Bachelors Degree in English from Schreiner University. After this, I actually attended law school for a brief time, until I realized that was absolutely not what I was meant to do. Lucky for me, I already possessed a passion for event planning thanks to three years of planning all of the activities for my university. Even luckier for me, I found Precious and her wonderful business, and now I can’t imagine myself doing anything else!

4. What are your hobbies?

I’m an adventurous and outdoorsy gal at heart, so if it’s outside or crazy, sign me up! A few of my favorites include hiking, biking, and kayaking. When I’m not adventuring, you can find me enjoying some more relaxed hobbies like reading, knitting, or exploring the Houston area with my favorite people.

5. What is your favorite dessert?

I’ve got such a sweet tooth, so it’s unlikely I’ll ever turn down ANY dessert. However, my favorite go-to is always birthday cake or cake batter ice cream.

6. What do you think is the most important thing a bride should remember on her wedding day?

I know this sounds crazy and impossible, but stop worrying about all the little details. Your wedding day should be all about celebrating your love and having fun doing it! The best advice I could give is to have a wedding coordinator. No, really! When I first began working weddings, I was shocked to see how much coordination of vendors, people, pictures, etc. is necessary on the actual wedding day. As a bride, you shouldn’t be worried about anything except marrying the love of your life and enjoying your time with friends and family! So whether it’s a family member, a friend, or a coordinator, I would make sure you have someone to handle the day-of stresses so you can enjoy your big day.

Carleigh will now be making regular appearances on our blog, at local events, and through social media.  So when you see her, please be sure to say hello!  You can also email her directly at carleigh {at} preciousnuptials {dot} com.

Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

Will you be my bridesmaid?

He’s popped the question. You said, “Yes!” Now it’s time to ask your girls, “Will you be my bridesmaid?”

Shouldn’t this moment serve as a great way to build lasting memories?  We thought so too!  When Dionne suggested “Cute ways to ask her to be your bridesmaid” as a blogging topic. I immediately thought about her super creative stationery designs. Dionne comes up the the most creative stationery designs ever. You should see this thank you card she made for her baby shower!  So… I decided to channel my inner Dionne with this topic and comb the web for cute ideas to ask her to be your bridesmaid.

When I was a little girl, I LOVED making paper dolls. Didn’t we all? Naturally, when I stumbled upon this idea, it brought back fond memories of paper doll making of my younger years. :) You’ll find many takes on this cute idea online, but we found the  original source from Anna Bond, of Rifle Designs as it was posted on the blog of Once Wed. Isn’t it adorable?!  We thought so too. Anna was gracious to share step by step instructions along with pictorial diagrams here on Once Wed’s blog.

A card is a really nice idea to “pop the question,” but an in person touch is even more special. Consider hosting a special gathering or a mini getaway to celebrate your newly found engaged status. During cocktails or after dinner and dessert — of course, present each of them with this totally fitting and super cute customized paper doll tote. Tell your girls how special it would be if they would journey through your “I dos” together, at your side.

You can totally customize this tote at this Etsy store to fit the look of each of them. I love the way you can select each detail to help each doll take on a look of each girl. http://preciousnuptials.com/blog/2013/03/05/will-you-be-my-bridesmaid/Selecting from three standard skin tones, four hair colors, fifteen hair designs, dress color and belt color are all available options to pick and choose from.

Next, fill each tote with something unique to each of your bridesmaid’s personalities. Don’t forget the Kleenex! She’ll love the effort you put into popping the question just as much as you loved the effort your fiance put into his proposal.

Enjoy and don’t forget to tell us how you”ll ask her, “Will you be my bridesmaid?”

Grocery Store Theme Wedding Image Sources:

Farmers Market Flowers :: Dessert Station :: Grocery Store Directory :: Chalkboard Signs ::  Table Setting :: Crepe Wedding Cake :: Crepe Station ::  Milk Glass Vases ::  Bread Stationc :: Grocery Store Wedding Couple :: Hanging Tin Can Arrangements

Did you find love down the aisles of the grocery store?  This grocery store wedding theme idea can be incorporated into a wedding design in so many ways and with so many variations. Here are some ideas to add to your grocery store wedding theme design:

  • Schedule your engagement or bridal portraits down the aisles of a grocery store
  • Have a morning ceremony to simulate a morning trip to the grocery store
  • Follow your ceremony with a brunch reception inspired by a Saturday morning trip to the grocery store! Just as a Saturday morning at the grocery store will be filled with food sampling throughout, stage this by offering hearty food sample stations.  Food stations are a big hit right now and this is a great twist on the typical food station!
  • Create your food stations to represent the different departments of a grocery store or the three most shopped for grocery store items: milk, bread and eggs.
  • Food station ideas: bread station, crepe station, cheese station, fresh fruit displays, mimosa station, coffee station
  • Grocery store inspired decor: milk glass arrangements, use of fruit and veggies within decor, table numbers inspired by aisle number signs, seating chart to replicate a grocery store directory, chalk board signs to act as grocery store signs to direct guests to different locations within the ceremony and reception.
  • Brown paper bag inspired wedding invitations
  • Fill a brown bag with dried fruit and nuts wedding favor; complete with grocery store inspired display containers, metal scoops and a hanging scale.

These are just a few examples we have to share. There are many options and variations! Don’t forget to dress your design up with beautiful linens and plenty of floral to soften the flow.

Tell us: What would you do to pull of your grocery store inspired wedding design?

Caviar Manicure :: Nail Art

Caviar Manicure? YES!

Caviar Manicure

It’s not your expensive bottle of fish eggs. The Caviar Manicure is a growing trend in today’s nail art world. As a fairly simple fashioned individual, I’m totally digging the Caviar Manicure and I simply can’t wait to try it. Creating a design may be a bit extensive in complexity or maybe not, depending on the capabilities of the nail artist or yourself (if you’re brave enough to give it a try!). When reviewing designs of other, I find that I’m drawn to the simple one nail accent effect. Although I’m loving the black caviar effect!

What is a Caviar Manicure? Simply put, it is a step by step process of creating an elegant three dimensional beaded effect to polished nails. To begin, clean manicured nails are covered with a clear base coat of polish. After the base coat dries, the normal two coats of colored nail polish is applied. The colored coat of nail polish should be similar in color to the craft or caviar manicure beads. Once the colored polish is completely dry, a coat of nail glue or resin is applied. The caviar or craft beads are then applied and allowed to set. http://preciousnuptials.com/blog/2013/01/18/caviar-manicure-nail-art/A top coat is used to seal the beads. Let it dry and that’s it!

Ciaté offers do it yourself kits that are sold at Sephora for $25.  Although Ciaté is the official line, you can also use craft beads from your local Hobby Lobby or Michael’s Craft Store.  If you’re not up for the do it yourself challenge, here in Houston, The Beauty Bar Hair and Nail Studio offers this service. Depending on your choice of traditional nail polish or shellac polish, this location services ring in at $35-$45.

Destination Wedding and Honeymoon Travel Tips :: Explore!

Destination Wedding and Honeymoon Travel Tip ThursdayVacation travel tips, Honeymoon and Destination Wedding Travel Tips

Now that you’ve sealed the deal on a destination for your honeymoon or destination wedding, it’s time to get excited about the location! High on the chart of our destination wedding and honeymoon travel tips is to simply get out and explore the destination.

You’re taken time and done extensive research in picking the perfect location. Your guests will love all of the all-inclusive amenities of the resort. You will melt in the extensive spa menu!  Don’t forget to explore the destination itself.

It’s easy to get lost in the beauty and convenience of having all the luxuries of an all-inclusive resort. While you’re a guest there, you are experiencing the resort’s image and offerings, not the actual destination. Stepping out of the comfort zone of the resort will afford you an opportunity to experience the land, culture, food and authenticity of your destination.

Take the time to research area restaurants, shows, exhibits, excursions and shopping locations. Next, create your list of things to do. Finally, schedule and book your activities. You may find that there are many things on your must do list, but be careful not to overload your list. http://preciousnuptials.com/blog/2013/01/17/destination-wedding-and-honeymoon-travel-tips-explore/You will still need time to relax, if relaxing is high on your list ;), and enjoy your accommodations.

This destination wedding and honeymoon travel tip is to absolutely step out of the box of your resort and take the time to explore the experiences around you.  You’ll return home knowing that you actually traveled to your destination verses traveling to your resort.

Cheers and happy planning!
