When it comes to a romantic destination that is filled with historical culture, colorful colonial buildings, cobblestone streets and dancing, Cartagena is the first that comes to our mind!
Cartagena is a city located in the north on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. This beautiful city was found back in the 16th century and can portray old school vibes. This city has a nice tropical climate all year round, therefore, this location is a popular beach destination for tourists and for locals as well. Most people enjoy visiting Isla de Baru, which is most reachable by boat, to see the all white-sand beaches and palm trees. As well as, traveling to Islas del Rosario to see the infamous coral reefs.
Many visitors enter the Old Town through the famous Torre del Reloj, better known as the Clock Tower. Once you enter, you can notice all the town wall sites such as the Palace of Inquisition, which is a museum that displays historical artifacts. Another must see museum is Las Bovedas, which showcases an 18th century housing enclosed with dungeons and former cells of criminals and murderers, a little spooky but an adventurous date! Another appealing attraction is visiting the Castle of San Felipe de Barajas or the 17th century La Popa Convent, both built on a prominent hill and both offering breathtaking views.
In addition to the beautiful sites this city has to offer, let’s not forget about the vibrant night life! The clubs in Cartagena are fueled by salsa dancing. Drink lots of water and dance your socks off at any club or lounge. This high energy dance will keep you on your feet! Salsa performances may also be seen across the city, from grand theaters or even on the streets. If the salsa dance is not for you, sit back and enjoy the professionals do it!
