My attempt to get back to normalโ€ฆ

Beverage of choice: My usual (Iced, Sugar free Vanilla, two Splenda Americano topped with half and half)

Atmosphere: My living room couch (lovely, right?)ย  It’s always so relaxing to be home and enjoy relaxing while working.

It’s late morning Saturday, as I sip my beverage, I realize the huge task of getting myself back on track.ย  Not only did Ike take his toll physically, but he just made sure everything was thrown for a huge loop.ย  Realizing that life will always throw challenges our way, my goal for today is to create an outline for next week.ย  I certainly have to restructure a few things, but all will be well and fully functional soon.

I was invited for a personal visit to Ashton Villa in the coming weeks.ย  We have a wedding scheduled on the grounds and a luncheon reception to follow in the ballroom.ย  The ballroom took flooding.ย  The bright side, it’s a historical home and the Galveston Historical Foundation has contract workers busy drying the building out.ย  The first post Ike wedding will take place in a couple of weeks.ย  I’m confident that will go on as planned.ย  In short, our December wedding space will remain as planned!ย  That was a huge load off.

There’s one thing that Ike did positive.ย  He certainly made me stop, slow down, and absorb life.ย  The very life we are use to is not guaranteed to be the same when we wake up tomorrow.ย  Galveston is filled with history.ย  I’ve been pondering ways to get involved in the preservation efforts.ย  Many structures remain standing.ย  it’s what’s behind the closed doors that’s causing destruction.ย  We’re considering becoming an active business member of the Historical Foundation.ย  At any rate, donations are always key to non-profit operations.

Okay, back to next week’s planning…
